Father's Day 2009
Father's Day was spent aboard Kinvara at the dock since the weather did not cooperate, once again! Sarah and Natalie joined us at noontime and we invited friends from the dock to join us for drinks and appetizers. The party started at 12:30, which is actually 5:30 in Ireland. It's always five o'clock somewhere!!
Sarah had to leave for work by three so dinner was Peter, Natalie & I, and our friend Eric. Natalie and I grilled steaks, potatoes, and onions at the grill but had to fight against high winds to keep everything put. The boat was rocking all evening with the winds but made for great sleeping. The next day brought more rain, mist, and winds. It's starting to feel like living aboard in Ireland for the winter. Peter drove North to meet his retirement friends from Tri-County for coffee so Pretzel and Jane stayed aboard and cleaned. We are waiting for someone to arrive to go over installation of our freezer system and watermaker. As soon as we get some good weather we will leave the dock and you can track our trip on the i boat GPS system.

Newport Harbor
Last weekend we sailed to Newport Harbor and took a mooring We ran into friends in the Newport Yacht club and had cocktails later. Then we went to a restaurant, the Landing, where our daughter works for the summer. The pic was taken from our table of sunset over the Newport Bridge. It was spectacular.
First official trip
Work Work Work
So many things to do but very few sunny days!!! Let's see, after unpacking the interior we have to clean & wax the exterior fiberglass, clean & oil woodwork, Jane in the bosun's chair aloft taping the spreaders, Peter minding Pretzel, having an afternoon beer with friends. During the week it is quiet and peaceful when we can get lots of work done....if only it would stop raining. On the weekends everyone is around and it is hard to focus. We have a very social dock!
