In the evening Mark and Mary invited us back to The good Life for sundowners with their friends Peggy and Tim from Laconia, NH. This was our last sunset party and it was a good one. Peter even brought his conch shell for the ode to sundown blow. Thanks so much to our great friends from NEB. We hope to see you again when we return in March or back in Rhode Island next summer.
Going...going |
Gone |
Today we left our mooring ball by 7AM and docked to water up and pump out. Mark and Mary met us once again to help us tie up. It was sad to say good by again. Once you have had a good time in port it's hard to push off the dock! Heading out the St Lucie River we had the sun in our eyes and wind in our face but it was an easy run....until we got almost to the crossroads. there are 3 sets of floaties before the intersection. We noticed a motor boat in front of us hit a shoal at the pair just in front of us. So we moved more toward the green side of the narrow channel. We hit the same sandbar. It seems to run straight across the channel. We draw 5.5' but the motor boat in front of us could not have more than 4' under it. And it was not low tide for another 2 hours!! Peter was able to push right through the sand so thankfully we were not stuck.
Rounding the famous Peanut Island in West Palm Beach we motored to our anchorage. It's very windy so we hope the weather calms before night time. As the sun set Peter grilled steaks and Jan took pictures of the Bahamas Celebration cruise ship leaving the port.
It looks like our crossing opportunity is Tues. night to Wed. morning for the calmest or Wednesday Day. We will watch the anchorage today and tomorrow to see how many come to wait for the jump across. We will blog one last time just before we plan to leave here then put our Verizon card away and depend on island time wireless.
Unless something exciting happens....or something that causes us not to leave we will not blog again until we get to the Bahamas.....somewhere!
