Day 54 Charlestown, SC

Today was a decision day to stay here or go to an anchorage down the way. After listening to the news and lots of people around us we decided to stay here until Wed. or Thurs. to wait out tropical storm Ida which is moving through the Florida panhandle. Some models bring it through South Carolina and Georgia bringing lots of rain T & W and lots of wind. In any case we can't go south outside or inside since it is so close to the ocean. So we will watch the weather and decide Wed. morning what our next move will be.
At 11AM we packed Pretzel in her backpack and took the water taxi across Charlestown Harbor to the downtown section. We walked around the open markets and had lunch at "Bubba Gumps". Peter had a shrimp combo prepared 4 ways and Jane got a hamburger which could be shared with Pretzel. The restaurant is dog friendly and we could sit on the outdoor patio with her. YEAH!!!! Then we walked through the markets again to try to find a sweet grass basket to buy. They are all handmade, beautiful, and expensive. We found one we loved but the tag was $400. Out of the question. We finally settled on one which we both liked and came in under $100. They don't like to haggle too much over prices! We met up with Dave & Trudie from s/v Persephone and had an ice cream. It was a nice day!
The architecture in older residential Charleston is lovely.
