Day 55 & 56 Still in Charleston

OK now we are ready to leave! The last time we sat like this was in Solomons Island, for a week, waiting out a stalled Nor'easter! Yesterday we had an overcast day with temps. in the high 60's so Jane got a trolley ride to the grocery store for a few fresh items. The day was spent on the boat not doing much and getting frustrated with the weather that did not appear. Last night, however, the torrential rain started and the wind topped 30K. Peter put his wet gear on and went out to add more lines and adjust what we had out. The wind and rain would come in waves so Peter spent a restless night. Our 43' boat is sitting in a 65' floating concrete dock so we had to move it very close to connect the electric cable. The cleats on the dock are so far behind the boat that Peter had to join a few lines to reach it. We have every extra line out now. This morning it is the same but the wind has changed direction now coming over our port bow. So a few lines may need to be changed. Our plan is to leave tomorrow morning despite some rain and wind because we are staying inland.

Hopefully Ida will move North as predicted. Sorry NE, it may be giving you your next Nor'easter if it continues Northeast!

Jane and Pete, We are rooting for you! Being stuck in rotten weather when we live in a house is tough...WE CAN'T imagine what it is like for you in a boat! Bet you are really getting to spend a lot of QUALITY time together.. We hope that the sun will come out and you will have perfect sailing days SOON..Keep smiling!
