Myrtle Beach Yacht Club
The weather forecast was not much better this morning but we decided that we had to leave and get to Myrtle Beach today. The rain was light when we left the dock at 7am. Within an hour the front overcame us and we had torrential rain, lightning, and thunder. Yippee... we are experiencing everything mother nature can throw at us on this trip so far. It rained all day until we were tied up at our dock in MBYC. We started out with our shorts and tee-shirts but within an hour or two we had jeans, socks and sweaters on. OMG we have not had socks and jeans on for so long I can't remember. Just to add to the stress, our Navionics Chip was acting up again. At times it had us heading for shore and around the wrong side of some markers. We had to stick to the middle of the channel and hope fore the best. I called the company when we tied up and the technician told me that their chips and their programs were not meant to be for navigation!!! "They are meant to back up your paper charts", Am I crazy, or did I waste the $1000.00 I spent on the 3 Platinum chips and the new Gold? I told him we have used the Platinum chips for the past 4 years and never had a problem until we purchased the new Gold edition a month ago. If anyone has information let us know.
It looks like we will have more rain tonight and still more tomorrow before clearing up later in the week. We are planning on leaving in the morning and our destination will be Wrightsville Beach. We hope we do not repeat our misfortune of 2009!!! Those of you who have followed our blog over the past few years will know what I mean.
