Day 16, 17,18 Finding our way around Back Creek

This is our place in Back Creek....around the corner from the major docks. Both sides of the creek are lined with boats. Now there are boats which are starting to anchor in the middle. There seems to be no restrictions on anchoring here.
We have spent the last 3 days finding our way around the Back Creek area of Annapolis. Our folding bikes have been put to good use so far. Jane rode to the grocery store on Friday and both of us rode to West Marine on Saturday to get some spare parts. This is the first time we have used them for a purpose, not just to ride. The best part is a bike path all along the roads from the marina to the stores and relatively flat roads!! We are using this week to get some things done before the push further South. On Monday the water maker installation will begin. We also have made arrangements to have side enclosures made so our cockpit will become another room to use which is weather & insect proof. They will be done by the end of the week. We are getting spare parts collected, Jane is working on cleaning & waxing the deck...again. (Using Collinite Bruce!!!) We also have to clean the hull which has accumulated the dreaded brown "bay stain". We are going to have a diver come and clean the hull, through hulls, and check the running gear. Another recommendation from the live-aboards on this dock. Yesterday we met a couple from England/Ireland who have rented their house in Woods Hole, MA for a year and are cruising South to Florida & the Bahamas. They are early-mid forties and have been here for 20 years. Maybe we will have to crack open a Guiness Draft! Today (Sunday) we are cooking a pork loin roast on the grill and watching the Patriots game on TV. They are playing the Baltimore Ravens so we can get it on a local TV channel!!! So happy about that. Peter walked to the main waterfront of the marina and couldn't believe how many boats are anchored through out it. He said it would be difficult to pick our way out of here before the boat show is over. Maybe we will take a dingy ride over to Annapolis to see what's going on there.
We have been talking to Natalie in Colorado via Skype. It is so nice to actually see her while talking. She gave us a video tour of the condo they are renting. It has a beautiful view of the mountains from their deck. She is adjusting, has a part time job until the full time kicks in at the end of Oct. Sarah is leaving to move out next weekend.

Pretzel is the same....happy as long as we are nearby. We left her for 2-3 hours yesterday to go to West Marine and she did fine. She is so use to the boat by now it feels like home to her. She just burrows into our bed pillows and sleeps until we return!
